La première région visitée est la Toscane.

La Toscane est une région du centre de l'Italie d'une superficie d'environ 23 000 kilomètres carrés qui s'étend des Apennins à la mer Tyrrhénienne et qui compte une population d'environ 3,8 millions d'habitants (2013).

La Toscane est connue pour ses paysages, son histoire, son héritage artistique et son influence sur la haute culture. Elle est considérée comme le berceau de la Renaissance italienne et a accueilli de nombreuses personnalités influentes dans l'histoire de l'art et des sciences.

Les vins les plus connus sont le Chianti, le Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, le Morellino di Scansano et le Brunello di Montalcino. En raison de sa forte identité linguistique et culturelle, la Toscane est parfois considérée comme "une nation au sein d'une nation".

Here are some personal tips:

• First of all: Extra Virgin Olive Oil harvested by hand,
• Of cours, some Italian wine (Chianti from Tuscany in the  typical 'Fiasco Bottle',  wines from the Tuscane region (Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano), regional cheese and "salumi" (not to be confused with salami, see this wikipedia article for more info).
• In the month of November you can find "Panettone", it's a tender brioche with fruits, origionally from Milan,  part-cake, part-bread, a sweet christmas gift!   The relative lightness of this Italian Christmas cake is very special.
• Pocket Coffee by Ferrero is sold most widely in Italy. They are individually wrapped and consist of Italian liquid espresso encased in a shell of dark chocolate. Unforgettable sweets!
• While visiting Siena, we discovered a "Lavenda del Lago" shop. Lavanda del Lago is Biological and 100% italian product. A nice gift or souvenir. Follow this link to find the lavender products online.
