Feldberg - August 2012

The Feldberg in the Black Forest is the highest mountain in Baden-Württemberg, and the highest in Germany outside of the Alps.The local municipality of Feldberg was named after the mountain. From where comes the name "Black Forrest"? The name Black Forest comes from the general dark color of the numerous pine trees that grow in this region.

Where to stay in Feldberg?

A very good family hotel we can recommand is Hotel Waldeck in Feldberg. Florian's restaurant at the Waldeck serves specialities from the Baden region and the Mediterranean. We visited in august 2012, then our dog was admitted. Now there are no pets allowed. There is a hiking trail that starts just outside the entrance door of the hotel.

Arnsberg is located in the north-east of the Sauerland in the Ruhr river valley. The river Ruhr meanders around the south of the old town of Arnsberg. The town is nearly completely encircled by forest, and the nature park Arnsberger Wald lies to the north.

Nearby is the Möhnesee, a very beautiful lake, worthwile visiting.
