Rhinoceros

Mini-safari in the animal park of Bandia

The private animal park with a surface of 3500 ha is 65km from Dakar and 15km from Saly. We observe animals typical of Senegal, such as gazelles, antelopes, warthogs, monkeys, turtles and crocodiles, but also animals from other African countries: rhinos, giraffes, zebras, cape elk and ostriches.

You can approach most animals up close. You can get a guided tour on the spot in an open jeep with guide, or you can use your own 4 × 4 and then you only pay a tax. Prices and info can be found on the official site: Réserve de Bandia

We visited the park in the afternoon. Around 4 pm the animals are more active and you are more likely to see them. At the entrance you will find the only trapped predator, the hyiena. All other animals are in freedom. Really impressive to get close to the giraffes. The zebras and the monkeys are not really close. To find the couple Rhinoceros was the real search, the guides constantly exchanged information about where you could see certain animals. Eventually we could still photograph the rhinos near the watering hole.

Below you can start a video about the trip to the “Reserve de Bandia”.
